Calcium carbonate is used as a stabilizer in glass production and acts as a melting agent at high temperatures. It also controls the viscosity of glass and improves its mechanical strength.
Our Niğtaş Calcium Carbonate products have very low concentrations of iron content (0.005%) and high purity, allowing the production of crystal pure glass products that give the closest and clearest form to the natural color of glass.
Calcium carbonate is another main component besides silica sand in ceramic production. It is an economical source of calcium oxide needed as a melting agent at high temperatures (1050°C). It increases the mechanical and chemical strength of the glass body and reduces shrinkage caused by fire.
Talc mineral is widely used in bathroom and kitchen ceramics due to its very low thermal expansion properties. Niğtaş Talc products provide color stability in ceramic production at high temperatures due to their suitable grain size properties, low iron oxide content and high chemical purity.
